Meet Brad

I am a born and raised resident of the North Shore where I live in my beautiful hometown of Roslyn. Through my campaign for state senate, I bring a lifetime of local knowledge, a strong community record and expert qualifications in public policy.

My background as a doctoral researcher holding postgraduate degrees in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins gives me the knowledge to tackle the complex challenges facing our region and state. My research also focuses on combatting media disinformation that harms good government policy outcomes; an expertise that marries my original background in media.

Earlier in life, after graduating from Wesleyan University with a BA in Film Studies and an MFA from American Film Institute (AFI), I enjoyed a successful career as a TV editor and producer. My work on Season 3 of Top Chef helped it win the Emmy Awards for Best Editing and Best Reality Series.

Unfortunately my career came to halt after a decade-long battle with undiagnosed Lyme Disease left me bedridden. During that time as I was contending with the high costs and complexities of our health care system, the national debate over The Affordable Care Act was raging. The experience was life-altering and it shaped my interest in public policy.

Upon making a full recovery, I transitioned my focus to community and political engagement as the nation began facing an unprecedented flood of disinformation and the erosion of democratic norms under the Trump presidency. I am dedicated to fighting for greater ethics, transparency and accountability from our government and media which have both helped fuel the polarization and propaganda that is destabilizing our democratic institutions and values.

The rampant rise of antisemitism is a red flag of this failure. I am unwavering in my commitment to combatting it. The same stands for all forms of hate and discrimination. As the first LGBTQ+ candidate to run for state senate from Long Island, I know how tolerant and diverse our home is. I will work tirelessly to defend the melting pot that makes New York and the North Shore special.

I have a strong record of serving our local community. As the founding Chair of Sid Jacobson JCC's Community Needs Bank I continue to combat food insecurity and local needs driven by our areas high cost of living. The affordability crisis is a priority of my campaign because it affects all residents. I am running for state senate because I love the North Shore and am committed to see our community and residents thrive.
